Album Notes

Traditional carols and modern classics of the Christmas season are arranged for flute and harp with original simplicity and beauty. The arrangements are straightforward with contemporary touches. This CD offers festive arrangement with typical RoseWynde beauty and lyricism. This is a winning, unique album that is gentle and reflective. A Merry Little Christmas creates a mood and gives the listener a feeling of a winter well wishing.

RoseWynde flute and harp duo has been a working group since 1998. Sandy Duffy Norman, flute and harpist, Kathryn Cater perform, write, and record here in the beautiful Willamette Valley. They arrange their own music and specialize in Celtic, traditional, and classical music. Building a body of literature for this instrumentation through research, writing, and arranging has been a primary focus of the group. RoseWynde has released four CDs with Sunridge Studios has published seven collections of their music through ALRY Music in Charlotte, North Carolina. We are proud to announce the release of our new CD A Merry Little Christmas September 2007.

Sandy Duffy Norman, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, is a performer and a teacher and has maintained Sunridge Flute Studios, since 1984. She taught middle school band for 15 years. She has released six CDs and published RoseWynde arrangements with ALRY Publications. Sandy received her B.S.Mus and B.M.E. from Louisiana State University and continued graduate studies at Western Oregon University. She has performed at three National Flute Association Conventions and belongs to the NFA, BMI, MTNA/OMTA and serves on the board of directors for the Greater Portland Flute Society.
Kathryn Cater, a graduate of Lewis and Clark in Portland, Oregon, studied harp with Marion Fouse, and is a performer, arranger, and composer. She has released six recordings and has compositions and arrangements available through ALRY Publications and Afghan Press Publications. Kathryn teaches and composes in her studio on her century farm near Salem with her husband and two daughters. She was recently featured in a national women's magazine (Country Woman) for her home based business in the country.
