Album Notes

now, after years of performing in northeastern rock, funk and blues bands, singer/songwriter rick rourke finally controls his own musical destiny on this, his first solo cd.rick worked closely with eddie kramer[hendrix, zeppelin, and buddy guy]as main songwriter on "out of control's" 1997 release.after getting airplay in dozens of countries rick helped other bands and artist's to discover their own talents as engineer and producer. join multi-instrumentalist and soulfull singer rick rourke with songs like "fortune&fame"[a hard look at the reality show mania}and "blown away" {a trip to a gypsy campfire just off rte 66}and 12 other stories that ring with craft and honesty. If you think television media is at an all time low i agree! read my lyric from Fortune & Fame below: Fortune & Fame she's the one we loved the most on last nights reality show she should be granted celebrity status let's get her to sing and dance print up that fake romance it's the crap they keep throwing at us .... ch the vandals of quality are pulling all the strings no hero's are hiding in the wings but in the end does it really matter when speaking of fortune and fame he's the one that lied the most got caught, went on to boast of all the famous people that he screwed instead of going up in smoke he's now a talk show host and by the million's he is viewed ch bridge the people in your world you drive by them each day they are taking up a cause in many different ways what about the guy on the telephone pole he's taking care of kid's there is mercy in his soul where's the reason where's the sense situation's getting tense when we make heroes out of fools get your fifteen minutes of fame then you gotta leave the game anything longer is'nt cool ch out allright im not just about bithchin about the media.how about my character in "dead man's shoes"

I have had the pleasure of seeing Rick perform at several occasions and events. I am ALWAYS impressed with the amount of talent that he has. I LOVE his new Album ...he has definitely shown his ability to write some very thought provoking lyrics. He and all the talented musicians in the band have continued to impress me with their musical expertise. All of the songs in this CD are excellent....Desparate World was the musical piece in this album that really caught my attention and really caused me to think about others less fortunate than myself. Great CD worth buying!!!!

Saw Rick live up on Lake George last summer & got this copy of the CD. Estuary is my favorite along w/ Truck Stop Jesus. (that song actually makes you feel like your in an 18 wheeler rolling down the mid-west somewhere!) Rick's writing is strong here all throughout. Good thought provoking lyrics. Of course the playing & sound mix is very good. It is a great addition to any collection.

Excellent music and lyrics! All talented musicians - great violin solos. A number of these songs could be big hits in wide release. Personal favorites: Fortune & Fame, Desperate World, Truck Stop Jesus... all great - hard to pick!

A well-crafted album with great musicianship and vocals, and a much broader range of styles than Rick's work with Out of Control. The songs are personal and honest. My favorites include Fortune & Fame, Family Tree, Deadman's Shoes, and I'm Cryin' (Rick's cover of early influence Eric Burdon's song). Definitely worth buying.
