Perhaps the most prolific folk singer/songwriter in the progressive movement is David Rovics. With a wit and precision, David's music cuts through the delusions of corporate-culture and smacks you in the face with the truth. His music and message have crossed-over multiple genres and have become unifying points in the counter-culture. Like a contemporary Phil Ochs, David Rovics consistently has his guitar strums aimed straight at state capitalism. Ever Reviled released Songs For Mahmud, his second studio album. On it David turns his keen style of song writing to the plight of occupied Palestine, connecting the struggle of the Palestinian people with quest for freedom and self-determination across the world. Featuring all brand new songs, this release promises to be highly anticipated. Ever Reviled Records is proud to be a part of it.

From the gritty reality of "Face of Victory" which spells out the lunacy of enlisting, to the solidarity shown in London's Trafalgar Square (I was there) when Bush came to town. Songs to remind us how difficult things can be and how much solidarity between us all that there really is.

The song *What if you knew* is worth it's thousand words as are many of the songs on this musically unpretentious but straight shooting album. If it was the intention of the artist to shake us awake, make us argue, cringe or just stop and think, David's mission has been accomplished. *They're building a wall* was particularly offensive but then again, so is the writing on that particular wall. You don't have to be jewish to hate this album but it couldn't hurt.

As all his renditions in the past, this particular CD tickles my toes and shivers my spine. David shows us exactly where the shoe pinches. He wonderfully tells right from wrong. Top notch indeed.
