NY Blues Queen

To Roxy's music I first came into touch by "Back To Bluesville", a real phenomenal recording. So I became interested in more by the NY Blues Queen.
And the so called CD is also great. Roxy is growing with every recording. Only Roxy live can top it, I guess. I didn't have this pleasure yet.

"Real Deal"... & other understatements!

First time I heard Roxy was on a "Music Choice" digital TV channel... but may as well have come to me thru the hot vacuume tubes of an old AM radio; turned 'jus right' and New York-ward on a windowsill. It may have taken me a few minutes before I looked to read the liner-note... but till then I was sure I was hearing one of the blues-queens: not merely of New York, but of the genre. My first instinct was to apply for a steady blues-harp position if one ever came up... but then reaized it was Roxy herself blowin' that Mississippi saxophone like a hurricane- and all that between a voice callin' and "answerin' back" with blues and tenacity of a soul leanin' into a hail-storm!! For fear of understatement- if you miss this blues queen... you've missed a national treasure!!

Like Blues? You'll Love NY BLUES QUEEN!

I'm not one to take time writing reviews...but...this one is deserved. Saw Roxy Perry and her band at a July 4th fireworks show, and had to buy her CD. Bought it and took it on a trip this weekend. Listened to it twice, going and returning. My wife and I 'bopped' and 'tapped' to every song, with the CD's wonderful blend of blues and, at times, a sense of ole' rock & roll. There are numerous instrumental interludes, adding to the listening pleasure of the entire CD. If we had a complaint at all, it is that more than the 9 songs on the CD would have been great. Couldn't get enough. Enough said.

My father always loved me to sing to him since I was a child..I am 58 years old now and have sang blues most of my life. I lost my father last year and I have pretty much given up performing, so when I start getting down..I take out Roxy's CD (that I purchased in NY) and I immediately feel so excited. The songs touch me..it's like they were written about my life in so many ways. You cannot sing the blues without living them and feeling them "WAY DOWN". Thank you Roxy Perry, NY Blues Queen.
