ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Founding member, original lead singer, and heart and soul of the legendary Flamin' Groovies, Roy Loney quit the Groovies after the Bay Area group waxed their greatest song, 'Teenage Head,' in 1971. He emerged again in 1979 with Roy Loney & the Phantom Movers, a new lineup that included ex-Groovies Danny Mihm on drums and James Ferrell on guitar. Beginning with their auspicious debut, 'Out After Dark,' Loney and the Movers picked up right where the hard-driving 'Teenage Head' left off -- with gutsy, rockabilly-fueled, no-frills rock & roll. 'Out After Dark' became highly acclaimed, the first of five albums Loney released over the next five years for San Francisco-based Solid Smoke Records and its two subsidiaries, War Bride and Double Dare. Loney's output in this era arguably represents the finest performances of a long, productive career, which continues to this day.
