David Rozenblatt’s Othello artfully combines progressive and classical forms to bring this timeless tale into a contemporary setting. The score reflects the complexity of the plot, yet becomes powerfully simple when communicating the passions of it’s characters. Highlights of the score include “In Outside,” where Rozenblatt expertly weaves Cassio’s sorrowful lament with Desdemona’s graceful reassurance. Iago the snake charmer has successfully manipulated the situation, placing him in full control of “The After Party.” “O Tell O My Love” begins and ends with a heartbeat, as the tenderness of new love becomes overtaken by jealousy and doubt. Does the heart beat with rapture or rage? “The End All” is a powerful exploration of grief and anger as Iago’s twisted plot comes to light. Merging Shakespeare’s words with a fresh, innovative score proves that when it comes to passion, jealousy, rage, and revenge, there’s nothing new under the sun.

Fantastic music that truly conveys the emotions of Othello! You don't just hear the music, you experience it! David Rozenblatt managed to creatively change the expectations for a ballet. You can almost see the dancers whirling to the music. It's almost impossible to imagine how phenomenal it would be to see the full performance live!
