Album Notes

Emerging from Seattle, Washington, Riding Paper Airplanes is the debut solo project of John Wu. Drawing upon influences ranging from pop songs to movie soundtracks, the debut release of Riding Paper Airplanes paints a stunningly diverse soundscape using both electronic and acoustic instruments.

From the opening notes of "homecoming weekend in a small town" to the haunting finish of "lying on a hill, watching clouds on a saturday", Riding Paper Airplanes accompanies the listener on a journey through songs rich with emotional and musical content.

"My object was to convey a feeling to people, rather than a story or a message," comments John Wu. The effort takes the listener to new concepts, while retaining a familiar base of compelling rhythms and melodies. Resulting responses confirm the effect: "I feel like I’m in a dream," comments one listener. "It’s soothing to my soul," writes another.

The self-titled debut of Riding Paper Airplanes is sure to please listeners looking for something fresh and adventurous, and is a promising sign of things to come.

Excellent

The first song on this great album quickly drew me in. I'm glad there are still talented and fresh musicians and songwriters out there besides the tired old standard pop and r&b fare.

I was made aware of this via cavemenscrib.com. I liked Homecoming Weekend and thought I give the rest of the album a shot. I'm glad I did. John Wu is a hidden talent. I like the cover art too. The only complaint is that the CD case fell apart.
