Randal Prater has songwriting influences spanning the 60s through the modern day that include John Lennon, Marc Bolan, Patti Smith, Steve Kilbey, PJ Harvey, and Rob Dickinson, among others. Randal wrote and recorded three albums with Creeping Myrtle and one with The Pagan States before releasing his first solo album in 2008 called "Falling To Pisces."
Note from Randal:
This is my debut solo album. I played all the parts myself. I’m quite proud of this recording and hope you will enjoy it. This was my zodiac project. Twelve tracks, each representing an astrological sign, starting with Aries and ‘falling’ to Pisces. But, while most people focus on the sun sign (I’m a Scorpio), I wanted to write about the moon sign (I’m a Pisces) because that is our hidden or ’secret’ side. More info about each song can be found at RandalPrater.com.

Picking up the Pisces
author: Daniel Thompson
After listening to this disc a couple times I found that all of the songs fit together rather nicely into a coherent whole. And with two exceptions, all of the songs are attention grabbers. However, there are 4 songs that should not be missed and must be heard multiple times. Tracks 9-12 are pure magic. Prater could have released these 4 tracks by themselves they're so good. I found myself skipping the rest of the tracks and listening to the last 4 over and over again. These 4 songs are lush and they build one on another up to the last track. The only negative thing I have to say about any of these 4 tracks is that Prater tempts the listener by only giving us one verse of the Kissing Window and leaving us wanting more -- on the order of sort of Stairway to Heaven length. I'd give the last 4 tracks a full five stars.
