Album Notes

This compelling band has initiated a new jazz sound: "East Coast Cool". From the original title track "Vicodin Dreams,to Mongo Santamaria's stirring "Afro Blue",a jazz waltz made famous by John Coltrane, this CD will thrill the most timid jazz listener as well as hard core jazz fans.Unique in both composition & instrumentation, this CD is designed to capture the soul of American jazz, from burning interpretations of standards like "Memphis Underground"to the celtic rock flavor of "Planxty Kong"(a tribute to the most famous primate). Doc Gibbs from the Emeril Live Show kicks it up a notch with colorful percussion fills on six tracks. Tunes like "Soul Sister Has Arrived" and "Kong" bring a new dimension to Laurie Reese's cello performance through electronic effects and fierysoloing, while other tunes showcase the rich, pure acoustic sound of the cello. New works by award winning composer Tom Reese feature musical interpretations on soprano flute plus the addition of the alto flute on "In The Belly of the Blues",a dirty groove blues & hard bop, swinging "Evening In Vermont." The band's sound is rounded out with Chris Bakriges,Piano,Jake Thro,B-3 Organ, and Aaron Walker, drums. Enjoy this fresh new approach to our great American art form,"Jazz".
