Album Notes

Outro Rio ( Another River) is Ricardo Silveira's 3rd release for Adventure Music and the follow-up to his last solo outing, "Noite Clara", which was nominated for a Latin Grammy award as Best Instrumental Recording of 2004. "Outro Rio" was produced and recorded in Rio de Janeiro and features guest vocalist Maria Rita on one track, along with the great Brazilian pianist, Joao Donato, just to name a few. "Outro Rio" is clearly Silveira's most accomplished and mature recording to date and highlights not only his amazing skill as a guitarist, but also his talent as an arranger, producer and prolific composer. This new release marks his 7th solo recording as a band leader.

Over the past fifteen years, Ricardo Silveira has earned a reputation as one of Rio's most admired and respected international musicians. Born in Rio, Ricardo grew up listening to bossa nova, samba and the steamy rhythms of Carnival. He began serious guitar study at age sixteen and is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied alongside jazz greats Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell. Silveira has played guitar on hundreds of recordings over his 25- year career and has recorded with such notables as Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, Moacir Santoss, Gal Costa, Ivan Lins, Joao Bosco, Chico Buarque and Don Grusin, just to name a handful of the incredible artists who appreciate Ricardo's playing.
