ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
On his latest recording (“Life Amongst the Static”) this native Californian evokes a range of influences that surpass what’s typically implied under generic genre labels. Never losing site of the power of an inspirational lyric, coupled with a guitar hook, he has fine-tuned a collection of 11 songs that suggest what a band could sound like if you blended elements of Snow Patrol, the Doves & Travis - and maybe seasoned it all with a little bit of the Bravery and perhaps a dash of Elbow. This is big sounding music that wears its influences well. Produced by Irish expatriate Lynne Earls (who has worked with a range of artists (k.d. lang, Rooney, Emily Wells & Billy Idol – among the list), “Life Amongst the Static” is a collection of intoxicating soundscapes with plenty of lyrical soul-searching.

A Must-Have.
Five Stars. This album has got it all. "Life Amongst The Static" is a heady, emotional, and ballsy album. It's a self-contained rock universe. The production quality is top-notch -- a testament to the performances on the album. The musician line-up on the album is like a night at the Grammys. The vocal and instrumental arrangements are superb. Robert Scott King plays guitar all over the album, of course, and his guitar work is stellar, but you really find yourself focusing on the lyrics and his singing. His voice hits you in the head and the gut at the same time. The songs speak to Everyman, yet they are also deeply personal. While every single song on the album is an absolute gem, to me, "Dissolve" (Track 9) is simply a masterpiece. It will make you stop whatever you're doing and listen completely. This is an intensely original album, and a must-have whether you're in your living room, your car, or on the proverbial desert island. I'm waiting impatiently for his next album. RW
