Album Notes

Rob Stoneback is a world-class trombonist with a world-class big band. Although the band has been around since 1979, not many people have heard of it. It's time for this to change!

The band has performed for such notables as Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Johnny Mathis, Rosemary Clooney, Olivia Newton-John, The Manhattan Transfer, and Stanley Turrentine.

When Rob's friend, Bill Watrous, made an offer to record with the band, Rob jumped at the opportunity. Not only is Bill one of Rob's idols, but he is one of the greatest trombonists who has ever lived.

This is what Bill had to say about "Mad to the Bone":

"A few months ago, Rob Stoneback, my good friend, set up a recording session for his big band and myself. We had been talking about it for a few years, an it finally happened. The band is sensational, as you will hear on this disk! I had a ball doing this project, and I have a gut feeling that you will get a kick out of what came off. Rob's the best!"

Whether you're a big band fan, a jazz fan, or a Bill Watrous fanatic, you are going to love this recording. With the exception of two Count Basie numbers, "Basie" and "Oh!," the music consists of new arrangements of classics and a couple of originals. Enjoy!
