Album Notes

When you hear the term Rubber Planet, it's easy to think of things that bounce. In the case of the Denver-based band bearing that name, it's all about the songs-songs that are so catchy they won't stop bouncing off the walls of your head. Rubber Planet has been writing and performing for six years, and their music has evolved and matured into an edgy, yet radio friendly guitar-driven sound. Imagine merging the pop hooks of Train with the upbeat edginess of Weezer or Green Day, and you've got a sound that radio should and will be begging for.

Rubber Planet has released three independent albums and toured nationally on their own, and now looks to broaden its market beyond a loyal grassroots following and invade the very planet we all live on-one that's hungry for some good music. Rubber Planet's new self-titled EP was produced by Peter DiStefano of Porno for Pyros and co-produced by Jeff Kanan (No Doubt, Madonna) at Westlake Audio Studios in LA. The result is an explosive collection of songs that shows a band that has paid its dues and is ready for some big things.

After learning that they were nominated for Best Pop Band at the Westword Music Awards in Denver, Rubber Planet went to work recording their new material with DiStefano. "They have a powerful sound with dynamics," says DiStefano. "The songwriting is pristine and the vocal is soulful with tone. Great musicianship."

Before recording their EP, Rubber Planet released Out There (2004), Fun With Rubber (2002), and Just Visiting (2000). They've been busy building a solid following and have opened for such notable acts as Lifehouse and Flickerstick, as well as earning a spot on the Vans Warped Tour show in Denver. They also bear the distinction of having a Number One song on the now-defunct mp3.com and at one time had 6 songs in the top 40 of the online music source.

"Rubber Planet's live show is second only to their songwriting prowess. There's no doubt these four guys have cracked the code when it comes to assembling accessible, hook-laden power pop."-Dave Herrera, Westword Magazine
