Album Notes

RUBIN SINGLETON

R&B artist Rubin Singleton, with his strong body, healthy mind, and soulful music, has been building his dream of becoming an influential, powerful, and popular artist since he was a small boy.

Originally from southern Georgia, Rubin’s love of music began at the young age of five when he sang his first solo in the Pentecostal Church of God. As a kid of the Bible Belt, he was inspired by his musically talented family. His mother was an avid fan of rock music and often sang renditions of Pat Benetar and Tina Turner. At the family backyard BBQ’s, his aunts and uncles sang hits from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Diana Ross all while his grandma crooned Mahalia Jackson in the kitchen.

Rubin went on to study music at Savannah State University where his understanding of different musical genres was deepened. By then, Rubin had developed an effusive personality and a level of discipline that assisted him not only in fine tuning his vocal skills, but his physique as well.

Discovered professionally first as a model after moving to New York City, to date, Rubin has appeared in Vibe, Source, Slam, Time Out, and Ebony. He has done major advertising campaigns for Amtrak, Nokia, AT&T, and Miller. His experience, however, goes beyond print editorials and advertisements. Rubin has performed on television shows “Fashion Rocks” on VH1, “Good Morning America,” and performed with Mario on the hit “How Could You” on “The View.” He has also appeared on stage with Beyonce on the Ladies First Verizon Tour, with Alicia Keys and John Mayer on the song “No One” at the MGM Grand Foxwoods, and opened for gospel star Smokie Norful. He has sung backup with Josh Groban on television appearances on “The View,” “Regis & Kelly,” “Good Morning America,” “Rockefeller Center Christmas Special,” “David Letterman,” “Lincoln Center with Josh Groban Live.” He is also a featured vocalist on Groban’s single “Weeping.”

Now after a few years of being behind the scenes, Rubin has decided to pursue a solo career. He has partnered with accomplished music professionals to produce his first original songs entitled, “More,” “Seven Days,” “On and On,” “The Good Life,” “Dance,” “Little Things,” “Finally,” and “I Believe.” These songs which he has written and co-written speak of his soulful spirit, personal drive, and his unique style that appeal to R&B, hip hop, and pop audiences worldwide.
