Album Notes

Rude Awakening has spent the last twenty years touring and rocking venues worldwide with all the big names in their pursuit of musical excellence. Exciting audiences and critics alike with their fiery brand of "blisteringly intense" power metal, these guys are truly amazing. The professionalism of this band is hard to beat. The instrumentation is tight and the compositions are hard driving without being too progressive. The songs are catchy, hard and fast with intelligent, thoughtful lyrics about doubt, faith, life and kicking ass. While some say the line-up on this CD was the band's best (as it was the most popular), others disagree vehemently: Robert Gaston on vocals, Robert Ryder on bass, Jim Hill and John Goodwin on guitar, and Joey Ballard on drums. This CD "Silent Cry" was voted one of the top 100 metal albums of all time by metal voters in the UK and the song "Couldn't Give It Up" is a tribute to rocker Philip Lynott and is composed entirely of Phil song titles and lyrical references. Rude Awakening regularly plays Ireland at the Vibe For Philo and cites Lynott as one of their main influences aside from Frank Zappa, UFO, Jim Carroll and Pete Townshend. There has never been a more authentic Hollywood metal band as these road warriors. Their music is truly timeless and should be enjoyed by all who appreciate good things metal...

What can I say bad about this disc? Not much. Awesome vocals. Great songs, killer instrumentation and badass lyrics. I love Philip Lynott so the song about him "Couldn't Give It Up" is a welcome tune. This CD is destined to become lodged in your CD player for sure....it rules! Robert Ryder, the bassist and founder of Rude Awakening is unbelievable on this disc as are Robert Gaston's vocals. Even a song co-written with Nick Menza of Megadeth. What more can you ask for from a metal band?
