If you like punk and dig the blues, then this album is for you. The guitar howls in ways that would make Johnny Thunders' knees weak. The harmonica bobs, weaves, and screams through the open space, pulling it all together. And the bass - well, this guy is one of the best and that's all there is to it. The rhythm is contagious and the performance is raw.
Recorded live with just three people, this record somehow got a sound louder than most big bands. Even for the few songs that are recorded on acoustic instruments, these boys pull you along like a runaway riverboat (and who isn't a sucker for a good acoustic guitar?)
The secret lies, I feel, in the do or die bleeding heart ethics of the band - the fact that music and life have, for this trio, become one.
Enjoy this CD - all originals, all instant classics.
