Album Notes

‘UP FROM THE INSIDE’ - Steven Rothenberg & RUM

Well someone had to do it. Someone had to make an album with some heart, balls, guts, & spirit. And someone had to make a record with some originality, style, and unpredictability. And maybe even someone had to make an album with some intelligence & humor.
Well, no. Let’s face it. Nobody really had to make an album like that........
But this guy did, anyway.
Fusing different elements together and drawing upon influences known & unknown, Steven Rothenberg & RUM’s new Cd ‘UP FROM THE INSIDE’ is a mix of rock, soul, world, & blues with tracks that stand on their own and that contain more substance than only one listening can give. Tracks like ‘Brand New Spankin’ “, “Into The Eye”, “I Like Some Contrast”, & “I Been Walkin’ “ especially stand out.
Different and sometimes inspiring. I look forward to hearing more from this artist & group.

“just awaken........”

** "Into The Eye" , the 3rd track on the album is being released on Midfinger Records BUSTA Cd Compilation coming out in December.

From shadow into sun. From the dark into the light. Mr. Rothenberg was chronically ill for many years and unable to walk, talk, eat, or breathe without major-league difficulty, let alone give any energy to the music he loves. But now through many years of extremely hard work he is able to enjoy the things most people take for granted and also now finally give himself and his music the attention it deserves.
"So I am grateful. But ofcourse, the work goes on........"

'juxtaposition is my favorite position...' (I Like Some Contrast)

"Rock alternativo dalla California. Lasciatevi sorprendere da questo rock'n'roll eclettico."

REVIEWS

Terrific Experimental Rock Music
author: Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team

“Up From the Inside” is an album created by Steven Rothenberg and his band Rum and is loaded with songs that are not only full of originality but has a terrific sound of its own. Taking the genre of Rock and saturating colorful fusions of Soul, Punk, and World makes this Experimental Rock album fun and innovating. The song, “I Like Some Contrast,” is a sharp tune with a catchy beat and interesting lyrics. You will like the fascinating sounds, syncopated beats, and lyrical vocals on the amusing song, “Monster Day.” Another fun song, “I Been Walkin’” offers some solid percussion, charming vocals, and a sweet guitar riff. If you like to listen to music that is new and refreshing, then “Up From the Inside” would be an excellent choice for your Experimental Rock music collection.
