ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
rundio has been writing and performing music most of his life, and has performed and recorded with countless bands. 'Carved in Stone' is his first solo album, performed primarily on the 'Chapman Stick (a ten string tapping instrument.) 'Carved in Stone' covers ground from from contemplatively mellow, to in your face hard rock.

The Stick is a full range instrument, from bass notes lower than an orchestral bass up to to the highest notes of a guitar. Sometimes projecting a crisp attack similar to an acoustic guitar, at others producing washes of orchestral-like feedback, and at others sounding like a conventional electric guitar and bass combined in one instrument, the Stick gives rundio a vast canvas on which to create. The Stick can also control synthesizers and other electronic sound sources, opening up an even wider range of possibilities.

Kim Wallace

Carved in Stone
If you are looking for the creative possibilities of the "Chapman Stick," this is a good place to start. It is probably difficult to break through the influence of King Crimson's use of the "Stick," Rundio goes his own way, and pursues his vision of what can be done with this unique instrument. This is also a good document of what a artist can achieve in a "solo" studio project. Rundio does a good 90% of the composition, recording and playing on this release himself. A very professional outing, by an original voice. Highly recommended.
