Singer-songwriter Jonathan Rundman, who built a full-time touring career as a Chicago-based folk-rock troubadour, has relocated to Minneapolis and has completed his new album. The CD, titled Public Library, will be released on Salt Lady Records on October 5th, 2004.

The album was produced by Walter Salas-Humara of acclaimed Americana band The Silos, and features The Silos and other New York indie-rock luminaries as Rundman's backing band.

Public Library is a pristine and hi-fi departure for Rundman, whose previous releases have been mostly homemade 4-track bedroom recordings. With expert guidance from producer Salas-Humara, Rundman's 11 new original songs were captured during creativity-inspiring studio sessions in Madison, WI and New York City.

A balance of Americana and Power Pop arrangements, the album frames Rundman's distinctively unusual lyrics and multi-tracked harmony vocals with rocking drums, jangly guitars, Hammond organ, lap steel, and even a string quartet. Rundman himself anchors the instrumentation with acoustic guitar and Wurltizer electric piano.

Rundman's songwriting has earned much critical acclaim since he began his full-time touring career in 1996. His three previous solo albums have been likened to the work of other Midwest natives such as Paul Westerberg, Liz Phair, Marshall Crenshaw, and Matthew Sweet.
