Album Notes

The RUPERT ROCKS! album is a compilation of rock songs about Prince Rupert, written and performed by current Rupertites. The album concept is a follow-up to the Rupert Songs album which was a compilation of folk songs about Prince Rupert. Why are there so many songs about Prince Rupert? Garden Records has been asking local musicians to write and record songs about Prince Rupert in an effort to create a sense of place, and of community, amongst local musicians. To foster community, the RUPERT ROCKS! album was directed by a "round table" made up of the songwriters themselves. This round table was invited to make decisions about every aspect of the project. It was Garden Records' hope that with the songwriters steering the project, they would learn about the music industry, come together as a group, and dedicate themselves to promoting the album.
