Album Notes

Ian Rushton is UK born New Zealander, a self taught pianist and guitarist. "All That You Need" is his debut release featuring a collection of melodic, piano-based instrumental works, recorded, programmed and mixed by the artist in his "bedroom studio" during 2002 and mastered by David Macquarie at Studios 301, Sydney Australia.

"Rushton has developed a piano style that falls somewhere between Richard Clayderman and Pierre Wauters and is a tribute to self-taught keyboard players and DIYers everywhere" - Nick Batt, NZ Musician Dec/Jan 2004

Moody and sombre - movie/TV producers take note.
author: Rhys
Moody and sombre, it is interesting that the tracks crafted on this debut album reflect a haunting bleakness such as that seen in the many faces of New Zealand's west coast. In fact, this recording in many ways is a reply to the effort Michael Nyman gave to provide a richness to the soundtrack he wrote for The Piano - which incidentally was set at a site close to where the album's cover photo was taken. From the darkness of Out at Sea to the driving Antarctic Winds these works express a knowingness about the different shades of life. The influence of Elton John, and in particular his earlier more serious work, is apparent in this artists style. Movie and television producers should look seriously at Ian Rushton as a writer of scores for their more serious productions.
