MESSAGE FROM RUSS
Beautiful raging guitars and a rock and roll backbeat…..that’s what I was listening to back in 1964! If it wasn’t for the Rock and Roll station my Mom had on in the car, I would have never heard Elvis’ “Jailhouse Rock”, Chuck Berry’s “Sweet Sixteen”, Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” or Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls Of Fire”. These are the legends that created Rock and Roll! Then came The Beatles…. the Rolling Stones… the Kinks and the rest is history. Their influence will be here for as long as there is music to listen to and enjoy. Rock and Roll has gone through various transformations throughout the years. Each generation tries to change it and make it theirs, but the basic elements will always remain the same.
The birth of Rock and Roll was a musical revolution that impacted my very being. Rock music is a unique and original cultural experience. It transcends the traditional boundaries of music adding a greater range of texture, color and sense of dimensional space. Rock music is versatile. It has been successfully blended with virtually all of the other musical genres. Rock music is emotional. Performed with honesty, passion and abandon. I’ll never forget the performances of Santana’s “Soul Sacrifice” and Hendrix’s “Star Spangled Banner” at the original Woodstock Music Festival in 1969!
Twenty years ago I was driven to write and record music. Now the songs I write are leading me through life and my musical experience. This musical journey has been one of self-discovery through each newly written lyric and chord progression. I’ve come to understand that my songs are coming from a deeper more personal part of me. My inspiration is fueled from life’s lessons.
Not everything I write is Rock and Roll but its energy and rhythm is deeply rooted in my soul. For me, music is all about the songs and the guitar that plays them. Part of my mission here is to help keep Rock music alive and spread the message far and wide. Rock and Roll will never die!
Ride This Train!
