Having drummed with great musicians like Tim Buckley, Frank Zappa, Chuck Berry, Bo DIddley, Allman Brothers, Big Joe Turner, Mike Bloomfield and many others, I then joined in creating sacred drumming in this culture 25 years ago, to heal and evolve our society. Empowering women as drummers as well as men, teaching the downbeat as the cornerstone of music and community, I have beheld great evolutionary events in our culture and shared joy with many who have never hit a drum before. IT is not the technique- it is the groove. It is not the notes, it is the feel. I play the downbeat because you can dance to it and you can love to it. IT is the heartbeat. The busy notes don't interest me anymore. My music is in the service of joyful Universe and I know it heals because it has healed me time and time again. I could play anything, any instrument, any style but I choose to work the basic downbeat grooves because they are the language of our hearts. Share the groove with me and we all get better.
