A Definite Must Buy!!!

There isn't much I can say about this cd that does it justice...it is truly a beautiful collection of music. I thought it was completely amazing from the very first listen and it's only getting better from there. It's truly a brilliant masterpiece, which defies categorization as one particular genre of music. You can listen to his music at any time, in any situation, and it fits. Russ's love for music is evident in every song and his talent is hard to match. Track 4, Leave It Behind, is hard to describe as anything but perfect. I really recommend this cd to everyone out there, no matter what "style" you like, I promise you will enjoy this cd. Great job Russ and keep making the beautiful music!

Joyous, honest and fresh
author: K. Brakebill
Russ Reiser’s Square Pegs – Round Holes was appealing from the first listen, and still sounds fresh after several weeks. The songwriting is cogent, straightforward and honest. The powerful Play the Game and Point of View are favorites. Barefoot Bay gives thanks to the Beatles in the spirit of Got to Get You Into My Life. The up-tempo Media Madness struck a chord with me because I so dislike the mass media. Talk of the Town reminds me of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and that is a good thing.
In each song, Russ artfully teases the ear using both minor and major harmonizations. Thankfully, there are neither dark and somber, nor sappy sweet tunes on this disc. The melodies really connect with the lyrics and song themes, which include: being in a state of limbo, coping with life, yearning, appreciating the simpler things, depending on each other, surprise, being humbled after being overconfident, giving life your best effort, change, knowing when to give it up, not taking life too seriously, experience as a teacher, and being open minded.
The production quality is sophisticated but not heavy handed. Russ has a fine voice that he presents in a rich and clear manner. He does almost all of the harmonies. I enjoyed the different guitar tones, including the tasteful use of acoustic guitar on many tracks. Russ plays for the tune and never goes overboard. It takes a mature musician to do that.
Thank you Russ for a delightful album of music!
