This song, like many I have written and recorded, has a long shelf life. It was composed during a road trip with a pal back in 1964; on our way to the West Coast from New Hampshire. We ran out of money and luck in Missouri and never did see California. A year later, we staggered back to New England minus the car we took, but filled with some hard scrabble experiences.
