ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
An unusual duo, he's from Sweden and she's from India, Red Velvet Slide creates an unforgettable sound "with powerful vocals, strong guitar work and an infectious chemistry." - I. New England News

Worlds Collide. From seemingly opposite ends of the earth, Chris Brenne (of Sweden) and Parul Vakani (born in India, but belonging to the culture off Exit 60 of the New Jersey Turnpike) are Red Velvet Slide. Powerful vocals and strong guitar work create a progressive folk-pop alternative that is quite distinctive. Chris Brenne - guitar and vocals - is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Parul Vakani - vocals, keyboard, and percussion - was trained as a classical pianist and slid through college with a vocal scholarship.

Red Velvet Slide has been described by fans as'what if Sting were to mix it up with Sarah McLachlan.' A miasma of British tradition, blues, Indian and Swedish folk influences, and rock of course. You would find Red Velvet Slide in the Pop/Rock section of your local record store as naturally as you would find The Beatles.

64 minute Journey. Red Velvet Slide has just released their second LP Monsoon (3rd CD). The album was recorded at Studio Adele, Brenne's own studio in MA. They were honored to have Monsoon mixed at Q Studios with Brian Nevin and mastered at SoundWorks Studio with Brian Capouch (Ellis Paul, Susan Tedeschi). The album integrates styles of rock, pop, and folk to relaxing world beat wrapped around full-bodied lyrics. Monsoon will connect with anyone interested in more than just what's on the radio.

All-senses Experience. Red Velvet Slide's performance makes you feel as if you're a personal guest in their living room, hearing stories about their travels and experiences, thoughts and consciousness wrapped up in the occasional joke, but the true attraction is the music. The tremendous guitar work of Chris combined with the angelic voice of Parul makes feet tapping and head bobbing contagious to any listener.

Awards and Honors:

Red Velvet Slide even received Honorable Mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition for Nina's Song, recorded on Red Velvet Slide, self-titled CD.

Brenne has had the honor performing at Backroom Productions - Guitar Masters Concert Series, whose stage has seen the likes of Windham Hill artists in past years.

Red Velvet Slide was featured on the award winning Boston BNN TV 9's premiere show, It's All About Arts, a one-hour 'LIVE' show dedicated to promoting and educating in the world of art. "Our show has featured over 400 artists and Red Velvet Slide has been one of our top performances! Chris and Parul's combined talent had a tremendous impact on listeners...they are world-class musicians with a winning style and sound," remarks Diana La Vigne, Executive Producer - BNN TV 9 It's All About Arts.

Beautiful Sounds & Stories!
This is a wonderful CD. Never predictable, the songs are smart, sexy, bluesy, and gorgeously delivered. Chris and Parul are not just style, but also have a lot of substance, as they write and sing about issues like the environment and uncertainty for the future.

There are poppy numbers, like "Fortune Smiles" which get me up and dancing, and softer, subtler folk songs to sit and relax to, like the beautifully contemplative "Where do we go from here"

Another personal favorite is the wonderful "Heaven and Earth", which touches on issues dear to my heart in a hopeful, yet honest way.

Bravo, Red Velvet Slide, for providing us with this fabulous new CD!
