Southeastern Ohio-based Sacra Via is an innovative eclectic rock band that seamlessly blends the diverse music styles of alternative, hard rock, and folk into a sound that's entirely their own. Sacra Via's introspective lyricism and thematically melancholic undertones are harmoniously complemented by the band's lively tempos, crisp guitars and dynamic vocal delivery.
When they're not busy performing for their exponentially growing fan base at venues throughout Ohio and West Virginia, you'll find Sacra Via hard at work in the studio, recording tracks for their second album. Sacra Via's recently released debut album, “Smoke Signals”, features a vast array of infectious melodies, adorned with intricate vocal harmonies and deft lyricism, proving Sacra Via's skillfulness as musicians, vocalists and songwriters. The album includes “Lunacy”, a dulcet and refreshingly honest fan-favorite, along with the melodic confessional crowd-pleaser, “Noise”.
Hailing from Marietta, Ohio and comprised of vocalists and guitarists Justin Arthur and James Perrine, and drummer Dean Johnson, Sacra Via originally formed in 2007 and has had a couple line up changes in the past few years. “Finding the right mix of musicians wasn't easy,” Justin recalls. “We had to try some different combinations. The first time that we played together, I knew we had found that mix. The chemistry we had when we jammed was undeniable.”
Musical chemistry isn't the only thing that binds Sacra Via's three members together; they all have an incredible amount of passion for music in general, and are influenced and inspired by the same things. “We don't discriminate between styles or genres;” James explains, “all music intrigues us to the point of obsession. Change, being the only constant in life, is our main influence. We embrace the spectrum of color life offers on a daily basis, and often use this source of inspiration to draw outside the lines. With every situation, there is a theme, and a song for every circumstance. We live music. We are Sacra Via.”
