Sage is a 4-piece rock band. The band uniquely blends a prowess for dirty drum and bass driven funk of the 1970's with powerful guitar rock of the 1980's, yet modernizes it all with passionate singing, catchy songwriting and the pulsing, flowing beats of today. The energy created by these four musicians has prompted the media to proclaim: "This band is not to be missed!"
The band went down to the crossroads in mid-2005, and came up with their new album Up From Below. With the idea of creating something fresh sounding and different than what anyone has heard live, the band utilized a horn section on 2 tracks, synthesizers, percussion, an electronic drum set. Meticulously mixed and produced over a 3 month period, Sage: Up From Below is a rich illustration of what the band can accomplish in a recording studio, and a full realization of Sage's musical vision.

effin Sweet CD

This CD is F'n Sweet! I'm new to Sage's music. Love the CD. I think I listened to it like 20 times already. I'll have to try their earlier stuff too. You can feel the music as with the lyrics "So Good! Cadillac groove now". The song Up from below gives the same sort of powerful feeling from the lyrics and is undeniably catchy. The feeling of the song travels through you with a jolt of the chorus "Up from below". Simply great. The song Colorado has got a fast paced beat that gets you moving with some nice jamming in between. Moonshine's another great song.. the whole album is smooth through out. Well worth the money.

Pick up Up From Below.

Sage has always astounded audiences around the tri-state area. Their unique blend of funk, soul and jazz with smidgens of country and rock is a fusion of “good-times” music. Sage’s newest release, Up From Below, mixes all these sounds into their already rotating list of influences and pushes the musical envelope.
Take, for instance, the electronic drum breakdown in Red Octagon – this was a pleasant surprise because the song was heading down the we-ripped-Sublime-and-311-off highway. It’s a little peek at what Sage can truly do. The most impressive thing about Sage is their ability to include so many ideas into their unique blend without sounding too eclectic. This CD kicks ass!!

Following up a double live CD with "Up From Below" is just what fans of Sage have been wanting. It truely is a fully-realized vision of the band, and really gets ya moving. I don't expect these guys to be "indie artists" for too much longer - with a release like this, they'll surely capture some A & R guy's ear and land a recording contract with a big label. Catch a live show, too - I think they are just as good live - if not better!
