Album Notes

sahffi is an all original artist based in Baltimore. Her style is a spontaneous blend of rock, folk, and blues, stemming from her early love of classical music.

After performing solo for many years, sahffi decided she wanted a band. Magically it easily came together in December of 2005, and in a month, they were playing their first show at The Mobtown Theater in Baltimore, MD.

Her band includes Shelly Work on vocals, Sean P. Finn on bass and violin, and Zach LeFeber on drums (bios below).

On how the band came to be, in sahffi\'s own words:

\"I really needed to perform with a band; right before my daughter turned two I decided I would put a show together to introduce my band. I booked the show first, and put together the band second. Some might have done the opposite, maybe, but I trusted the universe to help me in my next phase of musical life.

\"I of course called my sister, Shelly, first; she & I had been singing on and off for lots of years, and she is one of my best friends, so luckily she said an immediate \'yes\'.

\"Next I called up my friend Sean. I actually went to college with Sean at Peabody, and we were horn players together back in the day... his band had just broken up (Great Mutant Skywheel), which was too bad, because they were awesome, but I thought I had a shot of getting him involved with my band! He\'s also a great engineer, and recorded my first album, and I had sights on doing another album with him.

\"I was nervous when I called him... what would he say? Would he really want to be in my band? But to my delight, another yes!!

\"Lastly, I needed a drummer. I knew I wanted a very versatile drummer, someone with a jazz backround, but who also could rock out when needed; the only problem was, I knew no one!

\"I work in a dental office, and one of the hygienists also plays bass in a band, and always talks about music to his patients. Luckily I overheard him talking to this one patient about music and drums, so I excitedly came out of my office and asked this new patient, \'are you a drummer??\'

\"He kind of looked surprised, and said yes, then I rushed to get my first CD for him and explained my situation. I could tell he was not ready for this; he just wanted to get his teeth cleaned! But he told me that he was new to town, and I was NOT going to let this opportunity pass; I know the universe\'s ways when I see them.

\"The next day, his wife dropped by his demo CD, and that was that! I had found my versatile drummer, and we started rehearsing right away... I think we had three rehearsals before our first show!\"
