Album Notes

"The music on this recording represents a kaleidoscope of sounds, places and images that have influenced my playing. The guitar becomes a unifying voice bringing together Classical, Spanish, Latin and World elements to speak the universal language we call music."
Daniel Salazar

The recording marks a new phase in the career of the internationally acclaimed guitarist, whose interpretations of the classical guitar repertoire have been praised throughout the US, Mexico, Spain and Europe. In his continued effort to expand the guitar's repertoire, Daniel Salazar has developed a new musical style that combines various musical elements that have influenced his playing.

The new Compact Disc, titled "Mosaico", includes music that features the classical guitar combined with Latin and world percussion, bass, keyboards and orchestral instruments, resulting in a refreshingly original contemporary sound. Daniel, who has studied guitar with the some world's foremost classical and Spanish guitar masters, has also been influenced by various other styles, including traditional and popular Latin American music, Spanish flamenco and even American Rock. His original music now brings many of these elements together with this exciting project.

Daniel Salazar has distinguished himself as a guitarist of international prominence and interpreter of classical, Spanish and Latin styles. He is a highly regarded concert artist who has performed extensively as recitalist, concert soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Mexico, Spain and the United States. An innovative artist praised internationally for his "...warm, virtuostic playing" and "exceptional artistic talent", Daniel Salazar has appeared in many prestigious venues, including Liechtenstein Palace in Prague, the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Wienawski Hall in Poznan, the Artist's Palace in Vilnius, the Minsk Academy of Music, the Museum of Fine Arts in Malta, the Instituto de Bellas Artes in Morelia, Mexico and many others. He has participated in numerous festivals, including the Curso Internacional de Interpretacion Musical and the Festival Internacional de Guitarra, both in Spain, as well as the Feria de la Guitarra in Mexico. Daniel has also performed at the prestigious American Academy in Rome, the Manoel Theatre in Malta and other venues.

Having had the distinction of being selected, from a nationwide search, as United States Artistic Ambassador, Daniel has toured Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, where his playing has been enjoyed by international audiences through performances on television and radio in ten countries.

His debut Compact Disc, "Malagueña!" was released in 1996 and features the premiere recording of Lecuona's universally famous music of the same name, especially arranged for guitar and orchestra. Marking an exciting new phase in his career, his second CD, self- titled "Daniel Salazar", introduced a style that features the classical guitar combined with an ensemble of guitars, bass, keyboards, world percussion and orchestral instruments in what has been described as "a sensuous fusion of classical elegance, Latin rhythms and Spanish melodies'" with a refreshingly original contemporary sound.
