With heart, soul, and determination, Sam Corbin has traveled and performed for the last decade, with no signs of slowing down. Touring across the northeast and within his home state of Michigan, he plays music with hints of Americana, Blues, and Folk. His songwriting is strong and honest drawing inspiration from personal experiences of love, loss, traveling, and Michigan, from its beautiful countryside to it's struggling economy.
In 2008 Sam teamed up with percussionist Billy Harrington. Playing on a single snare drum, Billy brought a whole new sound to the equation. Together, their songs travel from a soft whisper, to the rumbling drive of a freight train.
Sam released his first full-length album "Goodnight Candlelight" in 2006, choosing a minimalist approach of mostly acoustic guitar and vocals. He recorded the album in his basement near Lansing, MI, with help from singer/songwriter Jen Sygit adding hints of Banjo, Uke, and vocal harmonies. In the fall of 2008 Sam will release his second full-length album, bringing to the lineup some of Michigan's finest musicians!

Wow. Beautiful prose with simply eloquent melodies. Distinct vocals pull it all together. Should be on the radio airwaves!
Listening now with my friend and co-worker, John Natiw, who introduced me to Sam's music.
"Patiently" hits home for me personally. I'm trying to catch the lyrics to this one in particular as I play guitar and would love to learn it.
This album is one to listen with your lover, your friends and family, or all alone with your thoughts. Well done.

deeply felt, rarely found magic, lyrically driven singer-songwriter symphony of sound here in sam corbin's goodnight candlelight. i am listening to it right now. it has the beauty of simplicity and the complexities of layering sounds and harmonies while never becoming presumptuous or bulky. the sound stays clean and crisp to showcase the lyrics and his heady voice, yet artistic and whimsical guiar playing and sound sampling bring to a near symphonic climax at times. this is a wonderful venture of folk gone personal. sam corbin has brought his own breed of americana to the table. soulful and funky, deep and full, this CD has it all. goodnight candlelight, good morning sam corbin!
