Album Notes

These songs(minus one) represent six years of music creation and ministry in the Episcopal Church that have been central to Sam\'s life and work. Some poured over for months, others written in a matter of minutes; some fun and upbeat, some slow and prayerful. But all of them share a common goal, to bring groups of kids, youth, and adults together in community, gathering in the name of Christ. The music that is made at youth retreats, vacation bible schools, and church gatherings, helps to define the group that is gathered, to bring together many voices into one, making a joyful noise unto the Lord. It is made not with perfection, but with a spirit of love that calls us into community, welcomes the stranger, and hopefully inspires us to deeper meditation and greater joy. With these songs, Sam has tried to capture just a taste of the energy from the events for which they were written. They are not perfect, just as we are not perfect, and the music we make at retreats is not perfect. But they, like us, have an energy that, when allowed to shine, can do amazing things. Sam hopes you enjoy them, and pray that they are tools to raise your spirits, and help your heart sing.
