Samona J. has loved music her entire life. As a toddler, when she heard her favorite song she would run into the house from wherever she was, just to stand in front of the television to listen and enjoy the sound of the music.
It was her father who introduced her to gospel music. He gave her a gospel tape with a culmination of songs from Milton Brunson and the Mississippi Mass Choir, needless to say everything blossomed from there!
Being allowed to listen only to gospel, classical, and opera music has given her an appreciation of various types of music. In school she always wanted to play the saxophone, but the band instructor gave her the clarinet first, because the sax was bigger than she was!
She finally graduated to the saxophone and played in the band from until she graduated High School. Playing a woodwind was instrumental in her development as a singer. She learned the importance and use of vibrato, and how to manipulate tone.
She has sung in numerous choirs, groups, and as background singer for up and coming artists. Appearing on the same stage with artists such as: Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Daughters of Christ, John P. Kee, and Marvin Sapp, just to name a few.
She sincerely enjoys the expression of worship through song, instrumentation, and dance.
Samona J. has grown up in a God-fearing environment and is saved by God's grace. She has been truly blessed with a gift and testimony to share with others.
