Album Notes
Although currently residing in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Sam is a Wyoming native. His family has lived within site of Elk Mountain for five generations on ranches and in neighboring towns. Sam’s grandparents met at a Hank Thompson dance in Rock River, Wyoming in the 50’s, so it was inevitable that he would inherit the passion for traditional country and western swing. His father, Scott Platts, has been his musical mentor as well as being a respected luthier. The Platts family owns and runs Stonetree Custom Guitars, and Sam plays guitars made by his father and himself. Sam is also Wylie and the Wild West’s lead guitar and steel guitar player.

Sam Platts and the Kootenai Three consists of three Kootenai County, Idaho natives that back him up. The group concentrates on creating their own brand of contemporary western swing and Americana. The group is based in Coeur d’Alene, ID and tours the Pacific Northwest as well as Montana and Wyoming, when Sam isn’t traveling with Wylie. J Kane plays upright bass, Joel May plays drums, Eric Degenhardt plays rhythm guitar, and Sam fronts the group as well as playing lead guitar and steel guitar.
