If you are looking for some exceptional singing and wonderful songs from the "lesser-known" Great American Songbook, stop and take a listen. Beautiful voice, swinging style, warm ballads create a very lovely compilation of music in this album.

notes

This CD is presently out of stock, but it is available for digital download.
The title song was written by Fred Rogers-that's Mr. Rogers to most of us. "I'll Think of You" is a poignant little song which Jody recorded with her children in mind.

In the meantime this CD is Jody Sandhaus' 2nd recording and features the singer with a great trio. Pete Malinverni plays the piano along with Michael Moore at the bass and Leroy Williams..drums.
Jody recorded this fine album with legendary engineer Rudy VanGelder in his New Jersey studio.

Some reviews:

"About five years ago I was lucky enough to hear a disc by a new singer by the name of Jody Sandhaus, one that really caught my attention. I wondered when the next one would come along, and then I discovered that one had indeed been released last July.
A few e-mails, and I was soon listening to I Think of You. It is worth the wait. Supported by Pete Malinverni on piano, Michael Moore on bass and Leroy Williams on drums, Sandhaus gives us her right-on readings of twelve songs on the thirteen tracks. The title tune, penned by Fred Rogers of “Mr. Rogers” fame, is used as a parenthesis for an outstanding program. It includes standards like “Spring Is Here,” “Too Marvelous for Words,” ”You’ve Changed” and “I’ll Never Be the Same,” along with very hip selections like “I Like It Here” and “Small Day Tomorrow,” a Bob Dorough/Fran Landesman tune that was a favorite of Irene Kral, a singer that I thought of frequently while listening to Sandhaus.
I sure do have a weakness for a good singer, especially one like Sandhaus, who has given us an album as fine as this one is."

"I THINK OF YOU is a winner, five stars, and Jody Sandhaus sings great jazz! Give this one a listen to, enjoy, then buy a copy for a loved one or friend. It is that good! Excellent!”
Lee Prosser, Jazzreview.com

"In Jody Sandhaus we get refreshing directness, delivered via a lovely soprano instrument which brims over with warmth and intelligence. And as an added plus, we get an accompanying pianist who sleeps with her. OK, OK, I mean it in the purest musical sense, but they are married doncha know? No artifice, no multiple tracking, no reason to doubt the singer and trio are in the same studio, on the same page. Summary — a marvelous singer from the technical (intonation, phrasing, enunciation) and emotional (lyric interpretation. dramatic skills) stand-points, backed by an exemplary trio. Malinverni’s piano sings in support, bolstered by Moore’s instinctive melodicism and Leroy William’s deft drum touch.
“For Heaven Sake…” don’t let this one slip past you."
