Sandii Castleberry is the hardest working lady in Southern California folk music! She has been performing many genres of music, including her original songs, throughout the United States for more than 25 years.
Sandii is a vocalist/guitarist who also plays harmonica, mandolin and mountain dulcimer.
Sandii's CD "Folk Chronicles" time-lines important folk songs in her life, and will delight young and old alike with her clear vocals and bluegrass instrumentation.
Sandii says, "I feel that in this fast-paced world, it's important to take listeners back to simpler times and teach them about the roots of American folk and bluegrass music, it's instruments, and the many cultures that have contributed to it."
Sandii includes a song recorded at age 8, when she learned her first folk song. She hopes that including this song will encourage beginning musicians.
The songs on "Folk Chronicles" also parallel many of the topics covered in elementary school history books, including Westward Movement, Colonial America, and Immigration.
Sandii is part of performing groups: Girls with Guitars, Castleberry Creek Bluegrass and Country Band, Music Born in America, Happy Birthday America, Celtic Connection, Aunt Sandii and Uncle Ron Children's Duo, and Holiday Hoe-Down.
She has created several of the musical programs mentioned above in order to educate and entertain young people about the rich musical heritage that America offers.
Having recently earned her teaching credential, she instructs second grade in Irvine, California one day per week. This leaves her schedule flexible to tour schools and communities with her folk music programs for Orange County's Performing Arts Center, where she has been a roster performer for the past 7 years.
Sandii has recorded a Christmas CD called: "Castleberry Christmas" which can be ordered through CD Baby.
