Album Notes

Keyboardist and composer Sebastian Lorefice has been an active and well respected member of Australia’s musical community.
Based in Melbourne his career has encapsulated two streams of achievement. The first, a career as an educator and academic that has spanned a decade. The second as a performer and composer that began in the early eighties.

As a branch of this production company he has welcomed and encouraged the input of outside collaborators or composers. One of them is Peter Sinis, who Sebastian met in the late eighties and befriended, while teaching at Preston T.A.F.E. college. As a student Peter was studying music and completing a 2 year popular music course. Later Peter was also successful in completing the Batchelor Of Education course at Melbourne University.

Both courses steeped in the disciplines, of understanding and mastering the very essentials of music theory, history and ensemble playing. The completion of these courses were a good grounding for Peter Sinis.
Even as a student (in the early to mid nineties) Peter had recorded and composed a series of pop songs with singer Richard Lovegrove. A style and approach was developing that was exciting.

The decision to work together came after a phone call in the early stages of the new millennium, where a fruitful discussion emanated and a collaborative friendship was born.

The compact disc album featured here “ Adventures In Westgarth, The Toyland Sessions “ is partly a result of collaborations between Peter Sinis and Sebastian Lorefice. Five of the compositions are a result of these collaborations. They are: Somebody Please Send Me Somebody To Love; I’Il Sing It In My Song; Sexy Hotty; After All This Time and I’m Ready For Love. These five compositions were written by Peter but arranged by Sebastian.

All recordings occurring between the years 2004 and 2008 at Toyland Studios in Westgarth which is in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

The other five tracks have been composed and arranged by Sebastian Lorefice. Singer actor and performer, Brandon Burns is featured in all but the last track. “ Timeless “ features singer, composer and performer, Michael Macri.

Adventures In Westgarth-The Toyland Sessions from Sansebastian Productions is an exciting, collaborative album on which Sebastian Lorefice and Peter Sinis showcase their cohesive musical talent. The description of Lorefice’s approach on his website successfully summarizes this album, “The whole idea is to be self-sufficient and to combine the best of technology and live music.” This album incorporates electronic buzz, smooth jazz, and a pop feel that display Lorefice’s wide-ranging background in many genres of music. Lorefice and Sinis combine their writing and arranging talents throughout this album. The opening track, Makin It Real, provides an intriguing electronic instrumental introduction, and then the charming vocal talent of Brandon Burns, an Australian Idol finalist, is layered on, resulting in a modern, smooth, and catchy song. Other tracks such as Timeless and Somebody Please Send Me Somebody are slower and more ballad-esque, however they still effortlessly merge Lorefice’s keyboard ability and arranging talent with fresh vocals and lyrical depth. With ease, this album could find a place in a home stereo, in a car for daily listening, or on the radio. Adventures in Westgarth-The Toyland Sessions has an individual sound that appeals to a wide variety of audiences and will remain in the minds of its listeners as a favorite.
