Album Notes

One of the world’s leading guitar ensembles, the Santa Fe Guitar Quartet, from Santa Fe, Argentina, is an innovative guitar ensemble whose repertoire ranges from the Baroque era to modern tangos.

Combining the talents of two Argentineans and two North Americans, the quartet is strongly committed to the performance of Latin American music, having presented exciting new works to a large audience worldwide. Programs include classical works by Antonio Vivaldi and Isaac Albeniz, contemporary works by Pat Metheny and Paquito d’Rivera, and Latin American works by Carlos Guastavino and Astor Piazzolla.

The Santa Fe Guitar Quartet has been touring internationally since 1989 and has performed throughout North and South America in venues such as New York City’s Lincoln Center, the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Meyerson Symphony Center with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and both universities and community colleges across the United States.
The quartet is available for appearances with orchestra performing Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto Andaluz as well as other contemporary works for guitar quartet and orchestra.
Master classes with the Santa Fe Guitar Quartet give music students, parents, and teachers an exciting opportunity to discover different musical perspectives through helpful instruction emphasizing interpretation, technique, and performance.

The ensemble's recordings continue to receive enthusiastic reviews throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia. Their latest recording, Wapango, is a collection of music representing the diverse expression of Latin American composers, further demonstrating that the Santa Fe Guitar Quartet is a living example of the merging of the Americas through music.
