Album Notes
The Diverse Saxophone performer/artist/ composer Sapphron Obois started out her career as a classical pianist and violinist with a scholarship in Rheims, France. Growing up near Chicago
she picked up the sax under the tutelage of Bass player Richard Davis, performing on Rush Street with the likes of The Art of Chicago to her own Quartet.
After moving to San Francisco, Sapphron still lead's her own quartet In LA and
Paris. Sapphron has toured and/or recorded with with the infamous R& B Tower of Power, Sheil E. Confunction, Hall & Oates, Mahavishnu Drummer/Producer Narada Micheal Walden, Frank Zappa, The London Philharmonic, Anthony Braxton, SF CHamber Orchestra, Shakesphere& Company, Windham Hill Records, Chaka Khan, Peter White, Jive Records, Sony records, Imaginary Road records, Redwood Records, Virgin Records,
Domo Records, and over 30 other labels world wide. Sapphron has been a featured artist on Black Entertainment TV Jazz, Guest speaker / teacher for
Richmond Center for the Performing Arts, National Public Radio in Washington, St Martin Jazz Festival and Paris Jazz Ensemble.
Sapphron has performed Nationwide with her band at festivals such as the
Playboy Jazz, Newport Jazz, Alto Cafe in Amsterdam , Bauhaus Amsterdam
and performed/recorded with several Eastern Meditation Teachers such as SYDA yoga and Amaji,
notwithstanding several Kirtan Performances with singer Wah, Dave Stringer, and Jai Uttal.
