Sarah Dashew has just finished her new album Jealous Girl with legendary producer Chuck Plotkin (Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan). All 12 tracks are writen by Sarah. She was joined in the studio by musicians who had played on some of her all-time favorite records. They include Gary Mallaber on drums (Van Morrison, Steve Miller Band), Jennifer Condos on bass (Bruce Springsteen, Joe Henry) and Mark Goldenberg on lead guitar (Jackson Browne). “Texas” features Marty Rifkin (Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen) on pedal steel. Singer-songwriter Dan Bern adds cello to the stark, powerful “Cannot Make the Call.” The album was engineered by Ryan Freeland (Aimee Mann, natasha Bedingfield). The upbeat track “Hash it Out” has already been heard on the hit TV Show “My Name is Earl.” Jealous Girl is an irresistable journey, from the relentlessly honest title track to the final, soul-soothing “Morningtime.”
Sarah Dashew (pronounced like “cashew” with a “d”) grew up sailing around the world with her family, listening to Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison and Janis Joplin. She learned to play guitar at sea and later began singing in a gospel choir. After a few years of performing in Austin, Texas, Sarah moved to Los Angeles and began working with Chuck Plotkin.

There's something very endearing about Dashew's writing and her voice. It just draws you in and you want to hear what she has to say. And it's not just because the words Brad Pitt appear on the back of the CD. Though the songs titles are clever. I like it!

Absolutely Awesome!!!

You can't help but get brought into each song and live, love, laugh and cry with Sarah. She sings it like it really is - you know because you've been there too. You've had sex in a car (probably not with Brad Pitt tho!), been angry enough to be an asshole, been mad at someone because they ripped you off, have woken up in a state of anxiety, and you probably even know one or two alcoholics! Not only are her lyrics so right-on real, her sweet and sultry voice deeply touches your heart with the emotions of every song. I, too, have cried to "What You Owe"...

I accidentally caught Sarah's show last week in LA. I happened to arrive early and was totally entranced by her live show, so I bought Jealous Girl: WOW! I sat down on my couch and couldn't get up till the album was over...Everything sounds so soulful, so clear, so in my ear. "What You Owe" made me cry. And I don't really cry. I'm in love with this record. 'Nuff said.
