Album Notes

It has been said of New York City-based vocalist Sarah Lynch that hers is a voice from another era.

Indeed.

"This is an artist with a lot of great, original ideas, and not afraid to take some chances either. Lynch hits the ground running with Haunted Heart in what is certain to be a remarkably notable career." George W. Harris, All About Jazz

"...this is quite an ambitious recording..." Kat Griffin, KKJZ, Los Angeles

"I'm a huge Jobim fan, and it's not often you hear a gringa that can pull him off." Eric Kaye, Creative Director/Partner, The Lodge, NYC

Sarah and music have been friends since she started studying piano at age five. Her playing led to singing, which led to composing, and now, with a Masters degree in piano performance, this upcoming singer-songwriter knows her way around a piece of music. Her first album, "Haunted Heart", released October 2006 on Runt One Records, includes five originals and seven tunes from the '20s and '40s.

Recorded at Skyline Studios, the album also features these amazing and very busy NYC jazz musicians: Pete McCann, guitar; Mark Ferber, drums; Phil Palombi, bass; Tim Albright, trombone; Dave Smith, trumpet.

Sarah accompanies herself on two originals.

Some of her most salient influences include Jo Stafford, Dinah Washington, Anita O'Day, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee, Betty Carter, Rickie Lee Jones, Joni Mitchell and Dianne Reeves.
