Album Notes

Sarah Rudd is a Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter from North Central Kansas. She is an amazing performer with a remarkable ministry and genuine heart for the Lord. Energetic and vibrant yet down to earth and grounded in her faith, Sarah’s rich vocals and original music appeal to a broad audience base.

Sarah grew up in not one particular “home town”, but as the eldest daughter of an Army Mom. She has expressed interest in music all of her life. At seventeen, Sarah was invited to compete in the National Fine Arts Festival. She often speaks of the blessings God has provided in her life and says she fell in love with her husband’s voice before she ever met him. “I knew that I wanted to sing with him one day and God blessed me with not only his beautiful voice but also a wonderful man and we now have three beautiful children together.”

She currently resides in Phillipsburg, Kansas, a small town where everyone knows one another. Sarah is touring currently in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Colorado performing at music festivals and churches in concert and leading praise and worship.

“One day I was convinced, on a whim, by a friend to go audition for American Idol. While that did not go very far, it was an enlightening experience. It is amazing how God uses the strangest circumstances sometimes to reveal a calling. It was on the ride home from that audition that I heard mine. I had heard other artists say that you have to write your own music if you want to be noticed. I never thought I had ‘what it takes’ (whatever that is) to write anything, let alone well, but I felt a rather insistent urging from the Lord to do so…and I did.”

Shelter Me was the first song Sarah wrote and performed in August of 2007. Since then she has continued to write, perform, and record her debut album Renovating.

Sarah says of the ministry God has given her, “I hope to bring glory God, and reach others where ever they are with a message that is real to them through this music. I want my music to be fun and real. After all, I am just a girl from Kansas who has been called to reach people with music- no matter how many or how few that may be.”

Each song of this album left me in honest wonder at the artist's voice and the messages behind some of the song's rang home. Particularly the title track. The idea of each of us as a home needing renovation because of the wear and tear of every day life is a new thought, but I loved it. My favorite song was Shelter Me, but that doesn't say much. Mine is a finger that hovers over the tracking control on my car stereo, but I never felt the need to move the disc along.
