sarah y su cachito* was formed in January 2009 by bandleader Sarah Town, who selected those musician friends and colleagues she knew would be most dedicated to exploring and sharing the rich heritage of Cuban and Cuban-inspired dance music and jazz. The group plays a mix of originals and standards. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, as well as a love of the music. With their first live performance as a group, they landed a monthly gig at La Pregunta Arts Café, a community arts space in Harlem. Over the past year, sarah y su cachito have continued to reach out to new audiences and venues, all of whom have received them enthusiastically.

*cachito is a word used throughout Latin America to mean "morsel" or "moment," depending on the country. Legendary Cuban bandleader Arsenio Rodríguez has a classic tune entitled "Dáme un cachito pa' huele," or "Give me a little something to savor."
