notes
No Cover was recorded in one day, one session at St. Peter's Cathedral in Chelsea (NY). The feel is soulful
and edgy with a guest appearance from flugelhorn icon and virtuoso Chuck Mangione. Todd Tukisher is well into the mix on percussion, as well as Hui Cox on guitar, mandolin and quattro, Gary Richardson on upright and acoustic bass, and Corrin Huddleston on harmonicas. Sara's voice is lively and 'on' with this rich and edgy hi-fi production from Chesky Records. The remakes of such songs as I Couldn't Change Your Mind and What You Don't Know are even stronger in feeling than the originals. There are also five previously unrecorded songs, most notably the romantic ballad, Gypsy Eyes, and the bluesy Ball 'n Joint, a tribute to bar balladeers. No Cover, released in 1999, is an important link within the Sara K. music collection.
