Album Notes

Sasi Shalom: Originally from Israel, Sasi is a prodigious composer, producer and performer. He has scored music for the Martin Scorsese award winning picture "Stop It", music and sound design for Nicelodeon's Dr. Suess, composed for the award-winning musical comedy "From The Kitchen With Love" (Haifa theater, Israel), and has scored many major commercials and music for networks such as: CBS, HBO and FOX.

He has also released four Jazz records as a leader( Modus, The way I see it, Long Time Coming and Endless Nights), toured his groups to the US, Europe and Israel, and has worked with artists such as: Buster Wiliams, Al Foster, Jerry Bergonzi, Adam Nussbaum, Ralph McDonald, Ravi Coltrane, and Will Downing.Sasi is also a member of the band House of Red (www.houseofred.com).

"Blue Mammoth Entertainment proudly announce the release of 'Sasi Shalom Quartet''s "Endless Nights". The Group was formed in the fall of 1996 by
Israeli Pianist/Composer Sasi Shalom and features Peter Steve Hass on drums, and an alternating tenor Sax chair which includes, Donny McCaslin, Jacques SzwarcBart, Ravi Coltrane and Ole Mathisen. After an incubation period of writing and long early morning jam sessions, early spring 1997 marked an appropriate time for this fledgling unit to finally record.

" ...Sasi appreciates music from all aver the world and has incorporated this diversity into his writing and improvisations. This direction was further encouraged when he came to New York City and collaborated with musicians such as Buster Williams, Al Foster and Donald Harrison. Sasi cultivated an ever growing sense of melodic simplicity and taste. He is ever-present in a music scene fertile with some of the finest young pop, rock, folk and jazz talent and this is an important factor which partly explains the significance of the new release "Endless Nights".

Beyond the formalities, this group has a lot more to say than mere notes, techniques or styles. As Charlie Parker once said: "Learn it all and then throw the book away...find your own way. " When all is said and done...the facts and figures aside...what is most important is the music....."

This CD is the greatest. Helped me (an absolute non-jazz fun) to start love and enjoy jazz. Thanks...

Step over Keith Jarrett
author: Sasha
each track is better than the next. It never stops suprising you both musically and technically. The playing is incredible on all sides from the dynamic drummer to the soulful bassist, not to mention the pianist who can easily be placed among names such as Keith Jarrett. The pieces themselves are masterful, intricating and exciting. For anyone who really knows and loves Jazz this is a definite recommendation.
