Now for something delightfully different – In a world of young, look-alike and sound-alike, jazz divas exploiting the same old standards from the Great American Songbook, Tarnia Lynn Coppers and her Sassy Catch creation are a siren call to a drowning man.

Channeling her inner Marilyn via Eartha Kit and Jane Russell, the Australian Tarnia (Tat or simply Sassy to her fans) is a voluptuously voiced and voluptuously lovely discovery. Specializing in songs from the fabulous MGM movies of the '50s, Sassy Catch featuring Tat and her boys (double bassist Eliot McCann and pianist Justin Florisson) kick it big time on their new CD Gentlemen, Start Your Engines. The first single released off the CD, Whatever Lola Wants (written by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross for the 1955 Broadway play Damn Yankees and revived most famously in the 1958 film of the same name) has shot to the number 1 spot on the Australian Jazz Vocal Charts!

The delight with Gentlemen, Start Your Engines, is the twinkle that comes through in Tat's big voice – not only does it match the power and depth of the voices from the original hits, but resonates with the pleasure of bringing them to a modern audience.
