Satchel Brown was formed in late 2002 as a 5 piece band, and consists of a lineup of musicians with a broad range of musical backgrounds. The band is centered in West Virginia, and has played shows along the WV bar scene along with various other venues along the state.
This self titled, debut CD from Satchel Brown is the result of a year long recording effort from the band and producer, and includes a song lineup that has been brewing in the band members minds for years. Tracks on this CD come from life experiences that Satchel Brown members have lived, and take you along on a trip that includes extreme river swings, remembering friends, lost love, and some crazy thoughts about coconuts.
Included on this CD are three songs that have been featured on radio in Morgantown, WV. While track number 3 "12 O'Clock" has received airplay, Track number 4 "Day Unreal" was featured on WCLG's Homegrown Hysteria Volume II CD, and track number 2 "Joe Boozer" is featured on Homegrown Hysteria Volume III, which will be released in late 2007.
The CD was released on November 28th, 2006, and was recorded in McKeesport, PA and Morgantown, WV.

Great Stuff!

I hear a lot of good influences on this debut CD from Satchel Brown. There's a touch of Cream on the 2nd track
Joe Boozer and I hear a hint of the Beatles on the track titled 12 O'Clock. Holdin Off is reminiscent of the Eagles with a strong country feel. My personal favorite is the track Last Stand. The 3/4 time signature reminds me of an Irish waltz that you might hear in a pub. Satchel Brown has a very current sound with strong lead vocals (Pearl Jam) and a feel good ambiance. These songs are original and melodic with arrangements that are straight forward. The guys are having a good time on this CD and it shows. There is something for everyone on this debut CD from Satchel Brown and I highly recommend it!!!

SB knows how to mix it up
author: Chris Morris
SB album has a great blend of rowdier rock then slowin' it down with some nice slow jams. SB can swing from a Pearl Jam style in a Place Called Home to the Last Stand, which reminds me of one of my personal favorites - The Travelling Wilbury's. How do they do it?? By the way, I was fortunate to get a copy of Place Called Home 3 years ago when SB cut it to a CDs they were burning. If you think the Album is great, don't miss their live show next time their in town.....
