Saunter was poised to become one of North Carolina's longest running, most completely obscure original bands. Saunter has embraced this philosophy, but it's about to change with the upcoming release of Excuses.
The person most responsible for the continued obscurity is founder Matthew Davis, lead singer, guitar, and primary composer. His vocal melodies give Saunter its hook.
The player behind the horn is Brian Buzby. His mild demeanor has won over many a fan, and his touch on the brass is sublimely rock and roll.
Behind the drum kit is John Crusoe whose straight-up beats provide the drive behind the melody.
Bass = Chad Bennett = Fun. You'll hear a perky bounce to his bass lines, reminiscent of John Paul Jones.
Paul Sanders plays the Hammond organ and keys, which provide the glue to Saunter's unique sound. He ties it all together and makes the music whole.
Saunter is extremely excited about the upcoming release of Excuses, which will define them as one of Raleigh, NC's most talented ensembles.

Great music and musicianship...
author: Jason Fitzpartic
Well, I took a chance and bought the CD. I was happily surprised. These guys are damn funky for white boys, but definately able to rock-out when they pull the trigger. The musicianship is excellent, the mix is very good, and the entire package is very professional. Well worth skipping the one Latte at Starbucks.

What more can be said?

Great tunes, drummer kicks a$$, needs more guitar in the mix. Overall a very good CD....maybe 4 1/2 stars would be better.

Hard enough to punch you, but not so hard as to knock you out.
author: Music Maker Magazine
The album is a witty and intelligent mix of funky rock-n-roll with enough sarcasim to make you smile for no particular reason hours after giving it a spin. These guys are funky enough to bob your head to, but if you listen carefully, you will hear some secret glam-rock tendencies trying to escape, but ultimately being transformed from cheese, to the bomb. These guys make you feel good about music again, by not taking themselves to seriously, however they are serious enough to sound professional with a touch of that southern charm. A definate band to watch for in the near future. Be warned, once this disc enters your cd player, it will stay there forever.
