The 'Blues' is in the heart and soul of the individual. Everyone hears and feels 'The Blues' in a different way. We believe that the 'Blues' feeling is simply your inner self telling you that there needs to be changes in your life. The task of the 'Bluesman' is to find the musical key that unlocks those feelings and prompts you to make positive changes.
The Straightup Blues Band has found the key- Honest, Straight from the heart 'Blues'. We have been writing, playing and living the 'Blues' as a group since 1998. We perform well together because we are all co-workers and good friends. We survive as a group because we work as a team. Each member contributes to the music and our goal of reaching audiences with a big dose of down-home Florida Blues.

STRAIGHTUP BLUES BAND
from: 12 BAR RAG – LARRY LISK – SUNCOAST BLUES SOCIETY
The debut release from the Straightup Blues Band is real, honest Blues. Nothing flashy or fancy, just good Blues straight from the heart. The band clicks on all cylinders as they ease their way through seven solid originals and three covers. That is the thing about this band - they make it seem so easy. No egos here either as all the band members make a contribution to the whole. Lead guitar and bandleader Ralph Straight puts his personal mark on the obviously autobiographical title song, bassist Vic Pavone contributes two originals and the band collaborates on two more. The real sleeper her is vocalist Alvina Walcott. She lends a couple of songs to the effort and in my opinion, steals the show. On 110 in the Shade you can feel the heat and Red Headed Step Child is a winner through and through. This is a nice first effort, CD’s are available from CDBaby.com.
