Album Notes

Yardwork is Stephen Bishop's first studio album in 7 years. It is also his first solo album. Recorded with just Bishop's guitar and voice.
Containing many new songs as well as several familiar ones. "On and On," and
"Separate Lives" are covered on this album in Bishop's own unique style.
Some cuts have vocal and guitar overdubs but the purity of the song comes through in Bishop's own memorable style. His songs have been recorded by Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Barbra Streisand, Art Garfunkel, David Crosby, Steve Perry, Pavarotti, to name a few... but here are 17 songs recorded in acoustic fashion by songwriter Stephen Bishop.

An intimate listening experience.

What a joy to hear Bish without the trimmings but with all the characteristic charm I associate with his music. From start to finish this is an acoustic pleasure with a balanced mix of nostalgia for the fans and new tunes for the tried and true disciples. Just sit back and enjoy

This CD proves out SB's guitar virtuosity in full. How one guy could, with one guitar, fill in all the voices of accompanyment we hear on his records is amazing. And that's just the guitar. His vocals are top-flight, just killer. This CD gives a living-room couch intamacy to the listening experience. Sometimes a stripped-down version of a big hit is rather boring, but when Bish does it--as with ON AND ON--it actually adds to the song. With this CD, you see where all the arrangement ideas came from on the regular-release CDs--Bish. His guitar work is superb, and it affords him tremendous dynamic range. RED CAB and PARKED CARS make you want to cry. How did he write this stuff? If you like Bish, you'll, duh, love this.
